PAIN AWARENESS AND INVESTIGATION NETWORK (PAIN) FOUNDATION LAUNCHES WEBSITE |
JOHNSTOWN--The Pain Awareness and Investigation Network (PAIN) Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for chronic and cancer/oncology pain patients, this week launched the first phase of its interactive Website. The site can be accessed at www.pain-inc.org.
“This Website will serve as one of the foundation’s primary means for linking patients and medical professionals alike with pain management information, research studies, treatment centers and pain specialists across the country,” said Mark Gorchesky, MD, DABPM, the foundation’s executive director. “Subsequent development for the site will include two additional phases that when complete will allow users, through password access, to collect and tabulate data for medical research studies.”
A recent Gartner Group forecast estimates that 60 percent of Fortune 500
corporations will be using portal Websites, those that are fully interactive for both site users and those responsible for site development and maintenance by 2003. The foundation’s Website development schedule will follow the Fortune 500 timeline. The interactive capabilities planned for the site will make it unique, setting it apart from most non-profit education and advocacy organizations in the country.
The PAIN Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, Inc., seeks to improve the quality of life for severe chronic and cancer/oncology pain patients through research, education and advocacy. While it is not a pain treatment facility, the foundation serves as a resource that links chronic pain patients with the most reliable sources of information based on individual needs. Foundation personnel work closely with patients, their families and the health care professionals who care for them. For additional information, please call (814) 266-OUCH (6824). |
