| Georgia Ritko was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 1995. She died in January 2003. For eight years, she and her husband Barry battled the disease and its progression in her body. They exhausted traditional medicine and sought a variety of alternative treatments. Theirs was a journey that included a complete life-style change, travel out of the country to seek "outlawed" medicines, and a renewal of their religious faith. Georgia and Barry met Dr. Mark Gorchesky, executive director of The Pain Foundation, at the very last stages of her life's journey. This is their story. |
